Swiss electrical and electronic components manufacturer SCHURTER has launched a range of super-thin prismatic supercapacitors for high switching loads.
Supercaps in the SCPA family are just 0.4 mm thick, and offer high power density as well as low Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR) and low self-discharge. They are well suited to applications that require high capacitance in the most compact dimensions.
Supercapacitors have around 10% of the energy density of rechargeable batteries of the same weight, but their power density can be 10-100 times greater, allowing them to be charged and discharged faster. This is ideal for applications that require short-term high energy outputs, such as when starting an engine. Other applications include sensor technology, small power supplies, devices with mobile energy generation and uninterruptible power supplies.
