Battery testing technology company Eecomobility secures seed funding

Eecomobility, a startup that specializes in developing battery testing and monitoring software for the EV, energy storage and industrial markets, has secured seed funding from a group of investors.

The seed-funding round was led by RiSC Capital, a Canadian investment firm founded by Shopify co-founder Scott Lake that manages a deep-tech early-stage fund.

Also participating in the seed funding are Automotive Ventures and Emerson Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of Emerson Electric. In 2023, Emerson acquired NI, a provider of software-connected automated testing and measurement systems, a move that allowed Emerson to create an internal ”test and measurement” segment.

Eecomobility’s flagship product is a software program called EECOPower, which offers rapid battery cell and module testing and characterization systems designed for lithium-ion battery pack production.

“These systems are transformative for the automotive industry,” the company said, because they are “capable of detecting defective batteries that can cause fires and performance issues.” The EECOPower tool is applicable to battery cells, modules and packs.

The company’s technology has already been deployed at automobile manufacturers and battery manufacturers, and is now in the process of being rolled out at companies in the vehicle battery manufacturing and assembly industry, Eecomobility said.
